Let’s face it – education can be a lonely profession. When I taught middle school language arts, I was often struck by the irony of being surrounded all day by people – young, highly energetic (and hormonal) ones! – yet I had so little time for the kind of teacher professional development that would allow me to work with other teachers or reflect on my practice. Principals and administrators face similar challenges. That’s why we created the Fusion conference.
Back when we started, we called it Member’s Seminar, and at the first one, members could sit around a single table, and the entire NWEA staff could too! Not anymore. Fusion has grown into a three time a year exclamation point, where nearly 1000 educators from around the world gather to share ideas and insights. It is a place to refill your inspiration well, with provocative speakers like Ron Clark. But most of all, Fusion is a chance for you to share and learn with other NWEA partners – educators like you who are using data to improve learning for their students.
So whether you’re a first time attendee or you’ve been coming to Fusion for years, we invite you to become a presenter at Fusion West, happening October 8-9 in Portland, Oregon – the beautiful city NWEA calls home. Our call for presentations is open until August 21, so submit your ideas today.
